There’s me walking Big Bobby’s mother out of the kirk. I know it looks like her and I just got married, but it wasn’t like that. Even though Virginia is officially in the South.

Post-wedding stupor

In case anyone back home is still following this … it’s probably going to be the last post for a few days as we go on our big trip south.

The last couple of days were a hurricane of 80s music, BBQ ribs and champagne. Yehaa! As usual, the sight of a man in a skirt pushed the women into a Dionysian wedding frenzy, all based on the mystery of what Scotsmen wear underneath. The wedding took place at a spacious but ghastly suburban new build, owned by Satan (he owned an IT outsourcing company anyway).

Made a bit of a Boob at the party afterwards. Remember: never flush a toilet to test whether it’s blocked or not.

Today’s excitement, apart from eating more burgers, writing more code and listening to more metal, was discovering a turtle on the front lawn. My teeny niece and nephew were psyched, as they say.

 

Death, metal and code

Today has the been the greatest of my life. I’ve spent several hours alone in a large house in an American suburb, blasting out death metal and learning Javascript. Soon my brother in law to be will arrive to take me thrift-store browsing.

He’s also called Bobby, but it’s fairly easy to tell the two of us apart, seeing as he weighs about 17 stone.

That’s what America is all about – doing what Booby A King wants to do. Why should I waste my holiday going outside? You can’t go anywhere without driving, anyway.

My brother-in-law has decided to give me all his death metal CDs as he now has them all on his hard drive / iPod and he doesn’t want his kids seeing them. This is ace because I gave him half of them over many a xmas, and they’re all albums I want to own.

I’ve also been trying to come up with a logo for Angeltapes. I’ve managed to come up with the most predictable one imaginable. Anyone fancy giving it a makeover when you’re skiving?

I love technology

I mean, here I am in Virginia; it’s a beautiful spring day outside and here I am sitting at a computer, just like I do at home.

This country isn’t quite as tech as you’d expect, the broadband speed is sluggish and they’re still using ghastly Internet Explorer. This area is basically a huge suburb of Washington DC and it’s full of strip malls and freeways. The wedding is this weekend then we’ll be heading off for a quick road trip to get some Southern-fried culture.

How sad would it be if I updated this every day? I’m just asking. I probably will.
